Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Suspensions
Commercial Driver's Licenses are governed by federal regulations. Several tests are required to secure a CDL. As a result of strict oversight, it only takes a slip up or two to lose your CDL forever. You cannot secure a CDL if your license is revoked in any other jurisdiction.
What to do after an immediate threat suspension
Massachusetts will suspend your CDL for a number of violations. Many of these violations do not take into consideration whether you were driving the commercial vehicle or not.
These offenses include OUI, refusing the breath test, blowing above .04 on a breath test, leaving the scene of property damage/personal injury, operating a vehicle during the commission of a felony, operating a commercial vehicle while your CDL is revoked, and several other civil motor vehicle infractions.
Some of these CDL offenses are considered “Major” offenses, where two infractions will cost you your CDL for the rest of your life. Hardship licenses are not available for a CDL under any circumstances.
If you receive notice that your CDL has been suspended, your livelihood is likely on the line, and you should immediately obtain skilled legal assistance.
